WHY DOES BAD ENGLISH

HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?

Why does bad English
happen to good people?
They’ve gone to school,
They’re not forgetful and feeble.

They slay the King’s English, and
give no thought, to being college grads.
“It don’t matter and “I have went,”
make me start to get really mad.

I cringe whenever I leave my house
because I know I’ll be bombarded
with, “Her and Sally went to town”
and “Them two has gone and parted.”

It’s rampant, prevalent, growing like weeds
and it’s not just in the south.
I’m appalled by the words that come right out
of the TV reporter’s mouths.

Will it ever turn around?
Not in my life, I have no expectations.
It’s a good thing I’ll be six feet under
because I’m running out of patience.
