Creating since childhood
Janet Brice Parker began formal art training in 1956, at age twelve. She later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama and studied with artists including Richard Brough and Alvin Sella.
Her working life has crossed many corners of the visual arts. Her experience has included work as an artist for a CBS affiliate, freelance design, set design, courtroom art and screen-print graphic design. Her paintings and portraits have been represented by galleries and are held in private collections.
Words became another canvas. Janet is the author of The Ivy Stays Green and Do Right Rhymes, and her poetry has appeared in a number of publications. Today her creative work also includes original songs built from her own lyrics.

Press and publication history
Poetry
Janet's poetry has appeared in multiple publications. Two of her poems were included in Cosmic Brownies, a collection that also included work by Maya Angelou.
