They come over me sometimes,
usually in the fall.
The feelings overtake me
even though I can’t pinpoint
exactly what happened
to cause them in the first place.
A chill makes me shiver
although the weather
is still warm.
I can’t capture the memories
but they emerge as a debilitating
physical cloud within my body.
I don’t want to grasp
what happened way back then.
I just want the ache
to leave me alone.
