THE TRAIN

There's something unsettling
about a train.
I hear it's sound,
rediscover the pain.

The howling whistle
disturbs my night
and plucks the same feelings
when heard in the light.

Hopeless and lonely,
longing and cold.
The sound reaches in
and empties my soul.

I call out to God
to fill my void
But I forgot Him this morning.
Could He be annoyed?

The train fades away
and so does the pain.
Maybe God listened.
It's beginning to rain.
