Janet Brice Parker
The Treasure
Dust-covered plastic flowers,
tired from traveling through time.
Musty carpet—
a smell of the past,
releasing particles
of an era gone by.
Rooms cry out for a face-lift,
while old curtains dissuade
a waiting sun.
Sadness nearly pierces through
until a treasure emerges
and calls my name
at the estate sale.
