THE TOWELS
The Raggedy Ann and Andy towels
are fifteen years old.
Bright colored terry cloth
to dry your bright little bodies.
Impatiently waiting to share
a naked cleanliness
with the very air about you.
Now, you shine your cars
with Andy's dirty face
and Ann's tattered smile.
I fold the towels
and put them on a different shelf.
They have another place now,
but not a lesser one.
