THE DOGS (TO DADDY)

We’re going to the dogs.
We hit the pool hall again.
But we can be so sweet sometimes,
think we can make amends?
We’re going to the dogs.
Eddie beat me five out of ten.
But I worked on Mama’s P.J.s
and got them cut and hemmed.
We’re going to the dogs.
But we didn’t spit or curse.
The sign in the pool hall says:
DON’T DO IT, or you will be dispursed.
We’re going to the dogs
but we found a sandwich maker.
The thrift shop had it for only two bucks,
but not with a milkshake shaker.
We’re going to the dogs.
But I bought my mama a gown.
I also fixed her bracelet.
We’re not going too far down?
We got a pretty photo album
for pictures from the cruise.
Willoughby says we can go to the dogs
and join him for a snooze.
