THE CABIN
Cradled in the midst of
live oak trees, a canopy
of Spanish moss reaches
down and touches our souls.
A charming log cabin greets us.
I sit and imagine the history
of this place.
Occupants warming their toes by the fire.
Women cooking meals and
taming children
making quilts for winter's chill.
Today, the owner blesses it’s
rooms with color and
delicious fragrance.
We breathe in wood floors
and fresh white towels.
A soft bed beckons us to
lay our heads on cloud-like pillows.
Antiques and art surround us
and provide a richness that
sinks into our minds.
A place we come back to
as the years call us to return.
