SONG OF THE SOUTH

Southern accents
are easy and smooth.
They fit the lifestyle, they
Slide in the groove.
But  youth comes along
and mimics its’ peers.
Some come from Yankee town
and what they say
Is unclear.
Now they all talk so fast,
northern and not.
Southern parents speak slow
but the young ones forgot.
They add extra syllables
To the smallest of words.
Their lips run so rapid
That nothing is heard.
So children please listen
To songs of the south
and let something soothing
Come out of your mouths.
