Seven Pounds Up!

I want to see the spark coming
to light up my creative side
but I’m laying off Jim Beam.
I’m afraid my muse has died.

Afternoons on the porch
with Eddie and a summer breeze
toasting each other lovingly,
and dreading the winter’s freeze.

But things have changed quite a bit
We went on vacation to Georgia.
When we got home I tipped the scales
at a  whopping one hundred and forty.

Jim Beam with lemon is really good
but it puts on the pounds like crazy.
So I’ll just have another Diet Coke
‘til the numbers go down from grazing.
