Heightened Feelings

Heightened feelings run the gamut from joy to despair.

Elation over church songs, secular music, men, women, the beach,

Depression covers my head like a dirty, old scarf.

Colors become faded and run together like mixed hues create black.

The world doesn’t disappear. It simply forgets its colors. And I forget they were mine to begin with.
