Janet Brice Parker
Full Circle
Five women were laughing
and talking.
Sisters I supposed.
They sat in a circle telling stories
and reliving past antics when
they were girls.
Pulling pranks on their cousins.
What fun growing up together!
Fighting sometimes but getting
over their squabbling
in tme to take their dolls
to a tea party.
Teen age years, talking about boys,
trying on makeup and sharing
each other’s clothes.
They were older now and still
having a ball.
One of them reminded me
Of Aunt Evie with her
Shock of white hair.
“It must be nice to have a sister”
I said as I gazed at myself
in the mirror.
If only I were a twin.
She could step out of
The gold framed glass
and reach for my hand.
