DIVORCE

What’s in front of me
is what I do
no thinking beyond that.
No contemplating on the past
destructive memory vat.
If I think about the life that was
I conjure up the best,
forget about the lonely times
and all the emptiness.
I’m better off in solitude,
no roller coaster ride
adjusting to days without
someone who was
sometimes
by my side.
