A WISH

I want to get under the covers and hide,
Get into my long johns, forget what’s outside.
I don’t seem to like anybody today,
I work to survive and get minimum pay.
I’d like to go crazy for a day or ten,
be irresponsible give out, give in
Let myself be led by the hand,
“first well have lunch, then we’ll color, Jan”
I don’t want to think about what is to be
Don’t want to worry about what I foresee.
Later I’ll think about how to abide
But for now, I’ll get under the covers and hide.
