A GENEROUS MISTAKE

I gave and gave to you.
So much so that
 you thought you were entitled.
You saw me as an ATM.
Thought you could petition
my generous nature,
and receive upon demand.
My first freely given dollar to you
caused a counterfeit love toward me.
An “I love you” from your
 deceiving mind.
You blamed me for your husband’s death
because I wouldn’t give you
what you demanded.
In your caustic character
 you threatened me,
attacked my very being
and cut me to the bone.
All because I denied you one time.
It was one last time for me.
I’ll be very careful now.
Thank you, Denise for setting me free
From people
like you.
