VISITS
Raspy morning voices comfort me as I awake.
Coffee dripping in its silver-gray percolator
Smells like home. My aunt talking incessantly, My grandmother and Mama preparing breakfast.
Granddaddy sits and waits while slurping hot black liquid. Daddy likes peace and quiet at this early hour but he accepts the interference
A scene I would experience time and time again
until once again I’m locked into this only child house.
