THEN
It’s too bad I wasn’t eighteen
When it was time to be
I decided to live my teenage years
When I turned thirty-three
I was tired of being Mama
The demands outweighed the rewards
And Papa was out of pocket
We struck dissimilar chords.
I went back to school then got a job
Went out on the scene after work.
I was in my prime and feeling fine
Being eighteen was really a perk
Life is different now
I’ve settled down
and I’m More mature of late, Forty-two surely
has its advantages like being twenty eight.
