RECOLLECTION
Somewhere, down in there
Though numbed by the alcohol
Is the memory of a football game
Where we began the fall.
You introduced a part of me
I’d never known before.
I learned that blooming late must mean
The blooms burst forth with more
Excitement took control of me
And turned my A’s to C’s.
The books lay dormant on my bed-
Crisp, unencumbered leaves.
We drifted through that freshman year
And made far reaching plans.
Looking back, I’m glad we thought
Our world was in our hands.
