Old Folks Boogie

I met a bunch of old people
From the class of ‘63
I cannot believe those ancient souls
Graduated with me.
What on earth happened
From’63 until now?
Dick Miller and I were class poets
We plagiarized and how!
I hadn’t become a writer
I didn’t know a rhyme
From a song
So Dick and I found some poems
and Decided to read along.
Everyone thought we were something
To read a poem that long.
We must have had genius minds to expound
On words so true
It was Wordsworth who inspired us
and maybe another or two.
We’ll, now that I’ve thought it over
and pondered my life in the past
I guess I’ll have to admit it
I’m as old as the rest of my class.
