Janet Brice Parker
No Blow.
Some of us smoke
and some of us chew,
but we won’t blow
our horns at you.
We roll down our windows,
enjoy the long summers.
And when we pass,
we wave at each other.
We gladly let you
enter the lane.
We move right over.
It’s never a pain.
We let you in front
when the line’s long and slow,
and listen to music
cause we know we can’t go.
No one’s in a rush.
We live a slow pace
here in the south
no one wants to race.
If you hear us honk
we’ll have good cause.
such as, if we go
and you’ve decided to pause.
