Janet Brice Parker
NEARSIGHTED
He dropped a bomb,
he fractured my shell,
I thought we were happy,
I felt we were well.
The finding fault
should have been a sign.
I was deep in contentment,
jaded, blind.
The peace in my heart,
commitment, devotion
was inside myself
not shared emotion.
I feel like a fool,
I told all my friends
“we are better than ever”.
Inadequate lens.
I couldn’t see
for the joy that I saw.
The picture unveiled
is not like I draw.
