Love Story

I had lots to think about that year I was out of school.
I watched Howdy Doody, Liberace and Kate Smith on TV.
Those were our only choices. That was in the 1950s
when less was more. I had pneumonia, rheumatic fever
and TB. I didn’t know I was sick. I had fun sitting in
bed and playing with my toys. Neighbors brought me
gifts on a regular basis. I turned the bed into a trampoline
until my mother screamed and said I was going to die of a
heart attack if I didn’t stop. I thought about my future as
a grownup. I thought about the little boy somewhere who
would one day be my husband. Little did I know that the
little boy hadn’t been born yet.  I was to be the
“older woman” who would marry a much younger man.
I’m that woman now and I have never been happier!
Thirty five years of being madly in love. We still can’t
believe it. Can’t believe we found each other and are
living the dream in our cabin in the woods.
It makes no difference that I am eighty one
and he is seventy two. Love is ageless and timeless.
I love you, Eddie with all of my heart!
