Janet Brice Parker
It’s February
It’s February.
But a seventy degree day
lifts our spirits
and soothes our bodies
and minds.
The sun sits slightly
left of center—
not exactly the bright blaze
of summer but still shining
on barren tree branches.
Abstract patterns move
like a paint brush
on gray asphalt.
Daylight is gently awakening
while evenings jump for joy.
A premise to spring
before long days
stretch and breathe.
Memories flood back
with yearning
for extended hours
and fireflies’ bright glimmer.
Warm days
are just around the corner,
Months of summer
and the earthy aroma
of freshly cut grass.
