Dancing in the Dust
Let’s pretend we are Gypsies
and dance in the desert’s dust.
Let’s look at the moon
and watch it shine
around cacti.
Let’s sing the song
of howling wolves
and move our bodies
to the rhythm of twinkling stars.
Let’s tie bells around
our ankles and wrists,
put feathers in
our dark hair.
Angry eagles puncture the clouds
and lay claim to lost feathers
which we call our own.
Let’s be wild and free
in this borrowed dream
we share.
