Janet Brice Parker
Catherine's song poem
You call and you’re voice soothes me.
We talk about you and me and our family
You send me way down deep into south Alabama
Where my grandmother’s utterances sounded like yours.
You make me want to come over to your big old rambling house
And just revel in babies and soul food.
I think about Christmas eve and The Fourth of July.
More food for my body and soul.
You are my “girlfriend” and your family is my family.
So what if you are black and I am white?
