Bamboo

Bamboo grows thick and tall
outside of our screened in porch.
Lofty stalks reaching toward the sky
give us a feeling of protection.
A false sense of security
hidden from strangers and beyond.
We think we’re secluded from the world,
an illusive misconception.
The world continues to revolve
and touch us with its’ problems.
A vertical illusion
in a horizontal world.
