Janet Brice Parker
A CURSE
The way that light pours over a room
Can affect my mood from glee to gloom.
Patterns on a bedroom wall
call up memories, I cannot recall.
November shadows at three o’ clock
Aunt Flora’s house, the tick then tock.
Birmingham sounds heard late at night
Venetian blinds cast dark and light.
Soap from the bathroom enters my brain
And I still feel the sound of the train.
