1955
On summer mornings in 1955, barefoot boys fill their pockets with marbles, pennies, nickels, string, and secrets. Bicycles and boys converge and begin their journey. The small store exudes scents and captures eyes with color. The boys hear the cash register’s ching and sounds of children pleading with their mothers for candy. Wax straws hold tart liquids to sip and savor. Bicycles rest on the grass while sun bounces off chrome like scattered coins on hot pavement. Long days dissolve into dusk and bring with it the glimmer of fireflies giving light to the night and days to remember.
